WHITFIELD TO RUN FOR MCSWAIN SCHOOL BOARD

Atwater, CA, August 10, 2009: Tim Whitfield announced publically today that he is seeking election to the Board of Education of McSwain Union Elementary School District.

“I come from a family of educators,” said Mr. Whitfield. “It is time for me to get more involved in education.”

Whitfield officially declared his candidacy on Friday, August 7th, 2009 at the County Elections Office. He joins six other candidates on the slate including three incumbents vying for three positions.

When asked about how he plans to win, Whitfield responded “I will use my experience in technology to my advantage. My official website timwhitfield.com will launch later in the week along with Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter accounts.” He also plans a podcast and online videos, as well as traditional signs and mailings.

“I will be meeting and conversing with district staff over the next few months to further prepare myself for the coming election,” Whitfield stated.

“I believe in core family values and a quality education for all children. I want to make sure the tradition of greatness at McSwain School continues far into the future,” he added.

About Tim Whitfield:

The Son of a school bus driver and a teacher, 25 year old Tim Whitfield grew up with education. His wife Amy is completing her Student Teaching this semester and various other family members are or have been involved in education.

Tim holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Social Science from Merced College.

Whitfield is a partner involved in a small website business in Atwater called Sunny Day Online and helps out on the family cattle ranch. He also works for the California Department of Justice as an Associate Information Systems Analyst. Whitfield was formerly employed by Plainsburg Union Elementary and Snelling-Merced Falls Union Elementary as a Computer Technician/Aide.

In addition to his employment, Tim Whitfield currently serves as Treasurer and Board Member of the Fresno based Underground Gardens Conservancy and is Past President of the California Junior Shorthorn Association. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Guardians of Jericho, a not for profit Kansas corporation, and a member of the American Shorthorn Association and California Shorthorn Breeders Association. In his student years he held various positions in Student Government and 4-H and FFA.
