The prognosis: 2009 and beyond!

I have been in and out of doctors offices for the past month and a half. Each time, the prognosis is always given... Prognosis is how a patient will recover from an ailment, a forecast of what's to come and/or foreknowledge. Although no one can really be sure of a prognosis, at least they help us to plan.

I am big on prognoses as they give us courses of action to get to the end result. They are a little like goal setting.

I am going to take this opportunity to give the world a prognosis on the health of Sunny Day Online. Here goes:

Sunny Day Online has grown tremendously over the past year. We have gone from a small company mostly serving the cattle industry to a web development power house in the environmental, rural newspaper, and small business arena.

Sunny Day Online now has a staff of five, starting 2008 with just Alex and I, not to mention our wives who are now consultants.

2009 will prove to be an even bigger year for us.

We are launching our FFAWebsites.com subsidiary, where we will host Web 2.0 sites for FFA chapters across the United States. We are in the process of becoming an official FFA licensee.

We also foresee tremendous growth potential in the cattle website sector, as the economy sours, companies are looking for ways to cut costs. Our prices are positioned to be competitive and are the lowest around.

We have also made a tremendous investment into our video capabilities. We have set up a green screen room and purchased a professional high definition camera. We look forward to not only adding videos to our websites but to start making small "sock puppet" theater productions on topics ranging from the delta smelt to salmon in the San Joaquin River.

In addition, we have some exciting web projects that our staff is working on in house. FestaTime.com will be a web 2.0 community based around the Portuguese tradition of festas. MercedLists.com will be a complementary business listing service for the Merced area.

As you can see, we have a lot on our plates and the list above doesn't include the rest of the newspapers or the numerous other small projects we are working on.

The Sunny Day Online prognosis for 2009 is a strong one. We will continue our current growth despite the health set backs that we face in the first part of 2009.

Here's to a prosperous new year.

:thanks:
Tim Whitfield
